Mobile Learning Day: November, 8th
The 2012 Mobile Learning Day will allow experts from Canada, England, Switzerland and Germany to discuss about the implementation of Mobile Learning in different areas. Three workshops will also allow participants to exchange experiences and make contacts. This will take place on November 8th in Hagen.
In the last years, E-learning has confirmed itself as a real and complementary learning form. The so-called Blended-learning concept takes advantage of the place and time flexibility of e-learning and the individuality of coaching and face to face training. The rapid diffusion of mobile devices (cell phones, smart phones, tablets, etc.) makes it necessary to rethink the so-called mobile learning but creates also new challenges:
- the displays are smaller
- the learning units must be smaller because Mobile Learning is used mostly in short periods (for example waiting times)
The Mobile Learning joint research project involves big corporations, small and medium businesses, a university and a german public institution.
Mobile Learning Day
On November, 8th 2012, 9a.m. – 5.30p.m.,
at FernUniversität in Hagen in Ellipse Room.

OULDI-JISC Project Evaluation Report: the impact of new curriulum design tools and approaches on institutional process and design cultures
This report presents research and evaluation undertaken by the OULDI-JISC Project (Open University Learning Design Initiative JISC Project) between 2008 and 2012. In particular, it considers the impact of new curriculum design tools and approaches piloted by the project on institutional processes and design cultures. These tools and approaches include tools for sharing learning design expertise (Cloudworks), visualising designs (CompendiumLD, Module Map, Activity Profile) and for supporting design and reflection in workshops (Facilitation Cards, workshop activities, etc.). The project has adopted a learning design approach so as to help foreground pedagogy and learner experience. Nine pilots have been completed across six UK universities.
