The voices of immigrants on adult education
28 January 2003
The project at developping a programme for the education of adult inmigrants, taking into account their own voices, which will be included in a website.

28 January 2003
The objective of the project is that of developping a trainning programme about the effects of autism addressed to parents or relatives and caretakers via Internet.

Women Learning for an Active Life
28 January 2003
The aim of the project is the diffusion of simple concepts connected with female
participation in democratic life
participation in democratic life
This project, which has been planed for three years, wants to raise awareness of the topic of active citizenship and the European citizenship. These subjects are not particularly well known in marginal social-economic situations and are even less so part of women's attitude, so they are always marginal protagonists of political and administrative life.
The aims of the project are:
- to increase knowledge of the function of local, national and European institutions;
- to raise awareness of female citizens to the concept of ''European membership'';
- to increase active participation in local political life;
- to stimulate the participation in non conventional formative activities on the topics of active citizenship and on the concept of European citizenship.
During the implementation of the project, several products will be produced:
- A report of researching the women's situation regarding participation in political/decisional life and their ''sense of membership'';
- Web site ;
- Didactic modules and didactic materials ;
- Training courses ;
- Instruments for self-learning (brochure and FAD multimedia course) ;
- Manual of good practice.

Development of a Vocational Tool on Textile Fibres designed for the New Work Situation in European SMEs based upon the use of new information and communication technologies
27 January 2003
An interactive, web-based, training tool will be developed to inform upon all types of fibres to include information on technical characteristics, textile families, functionality and types of application.
FIBRONET will develop a single interface for information on textile fibres, to be accessed through the internet and to serve a wide range of potential users related to the sector (i.e. students & young people considering the textiles sector as a career, those currently employed in textiles and unemployed persons considering textiles for re-entry to the workforce).
To support the data there will be a more general module presented giving basic background information on the textile industry, textile properties, textile standards and even listings of individual textile producers. Through the use of modern technologies i.e. the internet there will be the potential for increased access to this information and at a time which suits individual users.
Both tools will be piloted during the lifetime of the project and freely accessible, beyond this the background database will remain freely accessible with the comprehensive fibre database being considered for charged access according to the services chosen.

Digital Dialogues Networking Community Media
27 January 2003
The project aims at developping training programmes for adult learners by means of the ICTs.
This 2-year project addresses key questions for adult education in Europe: the development of self-confidence and self-determination in educational pathways for adult learners from socially disadvantaged groups as well as for those who, due to their local situation, have difficulty in gaining access to adult education programmes, and the development of new teaching methodologies (including ODL) to enhance these groups' involvement in broadcasting, new technologies, and adult education provision. To gain a more long lasting impact, the focus is on training trainers. Thus, the adult learners from disadvantaged groups are both 'trainees' and, through the incorporation of their feedback, 'evaluators' of the teaching and learning.
12 partners (community radio stations, media education/training centres, universities) in 7 countries with expertise in media education, broadcasting, use of new technologies and the Internet, international co-operation and action research based evaluation will develop suitable models/courses for adult education trainers, hosting and piloting workshops with various target groups. Using community radio and new technology as well as innovative teaching/learning methods, the models/courses will be developed in the first instance in one place and country. Outcomes will be course outlines to be made available to other stations/centres with similar interests.
The methods will then be adapted and reapplied by other partners/in other countries, in order to develop modules and sessions that could be exchanged all across Europe.
The project will be monitored and evaluated right from the start. The results will be made accessible as handbooks, CD-Roms and on an Internet database to contribute to the information, guidance and research services for adult education providers and users in various European countries.

Treffen der Generationen - Modellprojekt zur Entwicklung der generationsübergreifendenden Computerbildung
27 January 2003
The project aims at giving senior citizens acces to the ICTs and adresses young adult to be trained for their role as teachers
Computer literacy and the know-how to deal with new media continue to become a basic characteristic qualification deciding the individual's role in an information society. Nowadays dynamics of modernisation set senior citizens at a specific risk of marginalisation.
Their knowledge is aging faster than themselves. From the point of view of young adults senior citizens run the risk to be no longer regarded as partners in a process of life-long learning.
Traditional role models include older people transferring experience to the younger generation. In regard of the subject of ICT knowledge senior citizens run the risk of being neglected if they don't overcome the traditional role model.
The project ''Meeting of generations'' intends to change the roles in the learning process between older and younger people. Generation crossing forms of learning will be developed and tested with mixed groups of young adults and senior citizens.
The main target group are senior citizens but young adults benefit as well due to the improved social competence they have to develop if they are going to play the role of a teacher.
The target group of senior citizens is growing in most west-European countries and combines characteristics that identify them as a ''hard to reach'' group for adult education.
The envisaged outcomes include:
- curricula for cross-generational workshops
- workshops to be conducted at partners' sites
- web-site with an online education offer
- a training module and handbook to prepare young adult for their role as teachers

Intercultural Competence for Europe
27 January 2003
It will develop specifically tailored courses and workshops that will lead to recognised qualifications in community work and in adult education in a multicultural society.
European Intercultural Competence Programme (EICP) is a transnational initiative, whose main objective is to promote civil dialogue, understanding, tolerance and shared values through a learning interface that brings people together form all sectors of life.
Target groups are representatives of minority ethnic groups, voluntary and community organisations, local authorities, the police, employment/welfare services and religious groups.
Moreover, it will undertake capacity building measures for minority groups and local providers so that they could develop appropriate policies, structure and system that would fit the demands of our diverse communities.
It is expected that 380 people will directly benefit from the programme and over 68 agencies and groups will be involved in the process throughout the partnership.
Furthermore, it is believed that a huge number of people will have access to materials and documents through the programmes, websites and from other sources of publicity.
The project also intends to mainstream the training process through dialogue and negotiations with policy makers at national and regional levels.
