Public profile Maria Kocsis Baán

Parallel to her academic and research work in engineering field (MSc in Metallurgy in 1976, Postgraduate Diploma in Heat Treatment in 1985, PhD in 1991, Széchenyi Professorship award 2000-2004), she is deeply engaged with international networking and collaboration in Open Distance Learning, as founding Head of NHRDEC (North Hungarian Regional Distance Education Centre), hosted by the University of Miskolc, since 1998. Under her leadership, this unit has actively been taking part in 30 national and international ODL projects, aiming at methodological research, course development and networking for multilingual, joint development and delivery of learning programs. Maria Kocsis Baan played an important role in the foundation of Hungarian e-University Network, in 2007, as its Secretary General, and she is the president of this organisation at present.
