This project will develop a curriculum to provide new tools and measures for the control and prevention of infectious diseases and to learn about immune deficiency.

The ongoing restructuring of the Healthcare system in Bulgaria demonstrates the need to improve the professional qualifications of healthcare specialists. This co-operation between training bodies, research centres, social partners and local authorities will provide for a balanced input of scientific education and language skills to end users.

The project offers a new training approach for the transfer of up-to-date knowledge for the improvement of trainees' skills and abilities. The course will consist of five training modules covering the following subjects: nursing, hygiene, midwifery, rehabilitation services and dental, sanitary and laboratory technicians.

The main target groups are Microbiology and Immunology specialists, principally students and workers in healthcare. Specific course material, after the appropriate tests and evaluations have been carried out, will be made available on CD-ROM, diskettes, the Internet and via specialised multi-language information tools.
