Web Education Systems. A study about web education systems used by major on-line education providers

This project addresses the need, identified by a previous Leonardo project, for more European reference material in the field of management of on-line education and training. Traditional universities can be transformed, but they need to be made to see that major initiatives are needed to begin the transformation process.

The same applies to European public and private training organisations.
A study will be made of administrative systems for online education and training in Europe, and their experience in the use of web software to design, tutor and administer courses will be assessed.

The results of this applied research will enable the project to undertake a comprehensive analysis of existing systems for delivering on-line education.

The results foreseen include:

-Analysis of the existing administrative system for the Internet;

- Evaluation of best practices and recommendations;

- Articles and other publications as well as an international-level book;

- The web site, containing all the features and findings of the project, to serve as the meeting place for the partnership network and the educational organisations involved in the survey.
