ENVI GAME

17 Juni 2011

Školní výuka Průřezového tématu Environmentální výchova (PT EV) prostřednictvím kombinovaného programu ve škole i mimo školu s využitím multimediálních i mobilních technologií.

Jednotlivé regiony budou žákovskými týmy mapovány z hlediska biodiverzity druhové i ekosystémové, z pohledu kulturního a historického dědictví, využívání přírodních zdrojů, zdraví a životního stylu. Ve spolupráci s Výzkumným ústavem pedagogickým Praha a s občanským sdružením Klub ekologické výchovy bude vytvořena metodika, jejíž součástí budou praktické příklady výukových programů.

digital-earth.eu

16 Juni 2011

The digital-earth.eu project examines the use of geographic media in schools and teacher education.

Geo-media is the visualisation of information from different media sources and is concerned with digital content and its processing based on place, position and location. Many geographic media are widely used for navigation and routing purposes. Cartographic communication has never been so easy to implement, therefore 21st century school education needs to include geo-media into daily work. Innovative approaches to teaching and learning are needed to study environments from local to global scale.

The digital-earth.eu network links innovative centres around Europe where geo-media use is well developed. Products, resources, experiences and ideas are shared between the centres and opened to the public wherever possible.

A digital-earth.eu infrastructure is under development. The European Centre and an accredited network of national and regional Centres of Excellence are developing an online catalogue of materials, courses, publications, links and good practice scenarios, and are publishing a series of core publications.

The digital-earth.eu network project is a Comenius Multilateral Network  (2010-2013). It complements the activities of two previous Comenius Multilateral Projects (GISAS and iGuess) that used specific GIS software and produced teaching materials for schools and training courses for teachers.

The digital-earth.eu network seeks to provide broad access to resources (Europe-wide and international), promoting innovation and best practice in the implementation of geo-media as a digital learning environment for school learning and teaching. The goal is to raise the profile of learning with digital geo-media. The network encourages the sharing of innovative practices and rewards organisations and individuals displaying ‘excellence’.

Mediawijs? Bewijs het maar groep 7!

08 Juni 2011

TV, internet, social media, gaming.

International Conference on Digital Storytelling

06 Juni 2011

Digital storytelling combines the longstanding art of telling stories with any of a variety of available multimedia tools, including graphics, audio, video animation, and Web publishing. It has become both an educational and a cultural phenomenon which has certainly given a new dimension to the art of storytelling. Digital Storytelling is currently being used in more than 80 countries with many different applications, including education, marketing, and self-expression, among others.

In this conference we hope to gather here in Valencia those who want to share and explore these new pedagogical/socio-cultural dimensions of digital storytelling as well as learn how the use of technology has helped transform the whole experience of storytelling into something more personal and within everyone’s reach.

Interview with Jose Pessanha. European Commission - DG Education and Culture

20 December 2010
Jose Pessanha is one of the people directly responsible for the creation and development of the eLearning Programme. After it has closed down the EACEA Agency interviewed him about the challenges and impacts of the programme

Going back to the past and recalling the specific atmosphere of those years, what were the challenges that you wanted to address through the eLearning programme?

The overall objective of the eLearning programme was to "support and develop further the effective use of ICT in European education and training systems", which should constitute a crucial factor of "their adaptation to the needs of the knowledge society in a lifelong learning context". Under this framework, the programme addressed essentially the contribution of ICT in lifelong learning through the promotion of digital literacy, in particular for those with poor or no access to the technologies, the promotion of virtual mobility in higher education, the support to a Europe wide school networking scheme, including the training of teachers, and the dissemination, promotion and transfer of good and innovative practices of ICT use in education and training.

As underlying dimensions we can mention the contribution of ICT to strengthen social cohesion, to enhance the European dimension in education and to support the development of innovative teaching methods.

What do you think was particularly successful about the programme?

Although the programme was in general quite successful and cost-effective, I would put a very special emphasis on eTwinning, which is still a major ongoing European initiative in the field of school networking, supporting the exchange of innovative teaching methods and contributing to students' virtual mobility and teachers' professional development. The programme also successfully enhanced the European dimension in education and promoted co-operation between stakeholders in e-learning, for example in the fields of quality and open resources.

What are the most important lessons learnt?

The design and successful implementation of eTwinning, including the effectiveness of its funding model, demonstrates the potential of ICT to support innovative learning experiences, which would not be possible otherwise. It also shows the importance of integrating ICT in a coherent pedagogical project addressing clear needs and with the allocation of appropriate content and technical resources.

What are in your view the main challenges for the future of ICT in learning?

In my opinion the main challenge now is the full integration of ICT in education and training, both as a learning aid and a subject, implying the rethinking of organisation, curricula, teacher training and school infrastructure.

A particular effort should also be put in ensuring access to all, which would contribute to create the conditions favourable to increase participation in lifelong learning.
